RECORD BREAKING RESULT FOR THE 2018 ROYAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL
Communities from Victoria and beyond have dug deep, producing another record-breaking total for The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
“We’re over the moon with the final result. The funds raised yesterday will help sick children and their families who are under the care of the wonderful Royal Children’s Hospital,” said Anne Randall, Director of the Good Friday Appeal.
“The total is truly overwhelming and that is thanks to the dedicated communities across Victoria and beyond who have all come together to help us reach this phenomenal result. Communities across Australia are very proud of The Royal Children’s Hospital and this is reflected in their continued support of the Appeal for an astounding 87 years. For this, we want to sincerely thank each and every person who has given up their time and money for the Appeal,”Ms Randall said.
“The Good Friday Appeal has been made possible all these years thanks to the thousands of dedicated volunteers, tin rattlers, corporate partners, regional Area Managers and community fundraisers. It is because of your passion that we stand here today.”
The Good Friday Appeal is only possible with the support of its partners; Channel Seven, the Herald and Weekly Times, Telstra, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, 3AW, ACE Radio network, Nova FM and Smooth FM. We are also grateful to have had the support of the AFL and the St Kilda and North Melbourne football clubs who helped fundraise at the second Kick for the Kids footy match.
The thousands of CFA collectors around the state fundraised an incredible $1.67 million and the popular Great Good Friday Appeal Raffle brought in more than $650,000.
This year, the Good Friday Appeal saw another successful day at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre which hosted more than 100,000 eager fundraisers.
“Our annual Kids Day Out saw thousands of families participate in the activities and support the Appeal, with thousands more watching the Channel 7 telecast. The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre was once again an exceptional host for the 2018 Good Friday Appeal,” Ms Randall said.
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) Chief Executive, Peter King said the venue was once again honoured to host such a large-scale event that raises important life-changing funds.
“Every year we are more and more amazed at the incredible work that The Royal Children’s Hospital do for children and families across the country. It is our absolute privilege to support the much needed Good Friday Appeal by welcoming the Victorian community through our doors yesterday. We’re thrilled to have helped deliver such an incredible result. With the launch of our new expansion space only three months away, I look forward to hosting an even bigger event and raising more funds for the Appeal in 2019,” Mr King said.
Since 1931 the Good Friday Appeal has now contributed more than $345 million to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
